I was at lunch the other day with the group I work with at Microsoft. I had a discussion with some of the people I haven't ever worked directly with. One of them started to rant on about how he has distant relatives that know people who are related to or know people who play in the NFL (don't worry if you didn't get that, I still don't think I have). Then he started to ramble on about how the players (NFL or college) don't practice that much! I said "really? you think so?". He said yeah, that's what I read about. I then explained to him that I played football in college and knew more about the tedious schedule that a player has on top of trying to keep his grades up to expectations. I told him about how there were hours of rehabbing injuries, practice, film, rehabbing injuries and more film. No matter what I said he was sticking to his guns and not accepting what I was saying. I wanted to reach across the table and knock him off that chair. It boggles me that people think, "I read it so I know more about it then people who have experienced it." It really relates to work. I didn't finish my degree in college however I have experience in my field that cannot be replaced by any college course. However I see time and time again people who think they know it all and in all actuality they don't know jack squat! I wish the geek who claimed to know all about football at the college and pro level would spend a day in either college or pro football and really know how difficult it is and realize what a complete moron he is!
