Since the new year began Meag and I have decided to change our schedule with our kids. We have found that this new routine brings an increase of spirit in the home and finally for the first time in our marriage we have consistently read scriptures and said prayers every night! I personally have pushed against reading scriptures because we didn't have a routine down. I'm sure Meag and I benefit more from the routine than do our girls. Our girls know what comes after walking up the stairs. Because of the consistency we have had no problems getting our girls to bed. This truly has been a blessing in disguise.

Here is our routine:

  1. Give the girls milk
  2. Walk up the stairs - the girls do the walking and they love it
  3. Have bath time - they love this too!
  4. Get PJ's on
  5. Brush teeth
  6. Read Scriptures
  7. Read bedtime stories
  8. Say Family prayers
  9. Bedtime

If you struggle with scripture study or family prayers as Meag and I have for over 7 years you may find that a simple night time routine will make all the difference.
